Apple's Game Center is hideous

Seriously who chose these colors, fonts and overall design? What, did Apple actively prevent its design team from having any input on the interface here? Did someone lose a bet? This looks like crap, really ugly crap! Apparently the inside of Game Center isn't so great either.
