Funny. Excellent delivery.

In general, Macs are better than PCs for certain things but that doesn't give anyone the right to personally attack you for an opinion about something so trivial. I don't get that. How someone can essentially tell you that if something bad happened it automatically must be your fault is beyond me. Computers and software are designed by humans, they don't always work as expected - Mac, PC, Linux, whatever. Some people need to get a clue.

Loved the presentation :) I have been using Macs since 1985, but I always vote for personal choice. Blind following of any cause is just nuts, no matter how good the basic premises are. This goes for product choices, politics and religion. Egos are a hard thing to deal with.

While I will make no statement about the sexual activities of Apple fans or their opinions of racial superiority (in this paragraph), I must concede: The smugness of Apple is overwhelming.

I don't know if this is the case anymore: iMac computers shipped with a use manual printed on a small piece of paper. It read:

1. Remove your iMac from the box.
2. Insert the plug into the outlet and press the power button.
3. Enjoy your iMac.

Since Apple released their Unix-like line of operating systems based on FreeBSD, a lot has changed. Now, there is a terminal, which, on occasion, can be as deadly as anthrax. One exception: The terminal is wrapped in an Aqua interface. That makes it sexy anthrax, right? Apple can keep their three aforementioned steps for installing a Mac, but I have a conviction that another should be added:

4. DO NOT FOR ANY REASON EXECUTE "rm -rf /". This makes your iMac very sad. For the artists: Think Picasso's Blue Period, only without the art.

Perhaps "rm -rf /" should be added in the Help section of their web site as a remedy for smugness. A little dose of nonexistence on the hard disk goes a long way to humble the smug Mac user.

Addressing the character of Apple fans: Does this mean Catholic priests are Mac users?

I had the same error (twice) when installing Final Cut. It was some piece of secondary software, though, and didn't affect Final Cut. To the author: did you try opening Final Cut from the Applications folder after getting the error?

I did not. I ended up skipping that disk and installing it later. Something about the sequence led to the error, but all is well now.
