Just like being black is up to the individual, the use of the N word is up to the individual. The attempt to use black solidarity to eradicate the word has been unsuccessful because black solidarity doesn’t exist anymore. The use of the word is as subjective as the concept that there is one type of black. Just like race is a social concept, the creation of the word is a social concept. The continued use of the word is social - it no loner has meaning. Except of course when a non-black person uses it - only then does it have any meaning, social or not.
